Merry Christmas 2012

Ugly sweaters and Chris-mustaches by everyone. The return of the progressive dinner came to Idaho Falls for the Smith family Christmas Party. Appetizers and nativity at Lunt's. Main Dish and talent show at Hansen's. Then off to Hunsaker's for Santa's Sweet Shop and gift exchange.

We had tons of fun. Let the photos speak for themselves!

Football Pics

Fall is here! Football season is in full swing. Leaves are turning and the temperature is dropping! Luke is loving football again this fall. His team is undefeated this year. 4-0. Such a great improvement considering they won 1 game in 3 seasons before this one. He is super fast and has scored a touchdown every game. This morning was team pictures at 7:30 a.m. Surprisingly only had one kid a little late. Ryan made it for the picture but we missed the game for his cousins wedding.

I'm pretty impressed with the athletic talent my 7 year old has been blessed with. Heaven knows he didn't get it from me. Maybe didn't even get it from his dad either. We will thank his uncles for that one! He is super fun to watch and such a quick study when it comes to anything new. He is pretty good at every sport he tries. It's kind of annoying actually. But we love to watch him play and I know he would rather be on a field than anywhere else. So here is to 10 more years of football--at least. Clark will probably want to play in a few years too.

YanKee Kan Kook

In case you don't know, it is fair season. Every county in every state has one, at least out here in the West we do. It all culminates into one grand STATE FAIR at the end of the summer. My girls have 4H projects that went to both county and state fairs this year.
Our Eastern Idaho State Fair (yes there is also a Western Idaho State Fair. I guess our state is big enough to need 2) is held in Blackfoot every year starting with the Labor Day weekend. There are lots of rides, animals, concerts, races and of course food booths. That is where the Smith family comes in. My parents have run a food booth at our state fair for 29 years now. I have only missed working in it a few times when  I was in college and living in Colorado.
We love to hate the fair.  It's 8 grueling days of grease and wind and cranky people.  Everyone helps, plus a few friends who have become part of our carnie-family over the years.  For the kids it is a rite of passage to get to work in the booth.  Technically, none of them are old enough yet, but they all seem to get their turn one way or another.
So I present to you The Fair 2012 in photos.  Enjoy.
